Chiropractic care seeks to address the body as a whole. We treat the entire person so that he or she may regain their health and vitality. We also believe in leaving no stone unturned. If there is anything unusual we will find it and correct it so that you may return to your daily routine. Our team at Indelicato Chiropractic in Bradenton will take the time to make sure that your body undergoes the three general phases of Chiropractic care.
Phase 1: Relief Care
The first thing that we will do when you come in to our clinic in Bradenton is to immediately begin to reduce your pain and help you to feel better as soon as is possible. The sooner that you begin to feel relief from any pain or discomfort you are experiencing then the sooner we can begin to lead you down the path to full recovery. The typical length of time for chiropractic care is between 4-12 weeks. With visits about 2-3 times a week. This is of course dependent upon the severity of the injury or the underlying condition.
For most people they enter a chiropractor's office for the simple fact that they are in pain. They would like to reduce or get rid of their discomfort. This is the first phase of chiropractic care and can require daily visits, or two to three visits per week for a period of time. Unfortunately many people have the notion that just because they are not currently feeling any pain that there is nothing wrong with them. They believe that because they are not feeling discomfort that they are perfectly healthy. This is false, however, because pain, discomfort, and many other symptoms can appear only after a disease or condition has been allowed to develop into an advanced state.
One way to look at it is to imagine a cavity in your tooth. When the cavity first develops you do not feel any pain or discomfort. After the cavity has grown, however, the pain will begin to set in.
Pain is usually one of the last symptoms to occur, but it is also one of the first symptoms that begins to disappear during chiropractic care.
Phase 2: Corrective / Restorative Care
During this second phase we begin to focus more on correcting issues with muscles and other tissues. This will help prevent any further injury or discomfort. The goal with this phase is to get your body back on track and feeling 100 percent. This phase can cover 6-24 months depending upon your overall current health and the severity of your problem or underlying condition. Typically our patients will need to come in 4-8 times a month for care and adjustments.
There are many chiropractors out there who will regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest and last part of a patients care. However, if this is where a chiropractor stops then the pain and discomfort are almost certain to reoccur. This is what we do differently here at Indelicato Chiropractic in Bradenton. We ensure that our patients finish their full health plan in order to obtain complete recovery and lessen the likelyhood of any symptoms occuring again.
During this second phase that we like to call the Corrective/Restorative phase, you will have fewer required adjustements and fewer visits. You may even begin to work on your exercises and stretches at home in order to accelerate your progress on the road to recovery.
You may still occasionally experience flare-ups during this time. Do not be alarmed as these are completely normal. The body has not fully healed during this phase and these occasional pains are an unfortunate reminder that there is still some healing to be done. This is all dependent upon the length of time you have been experiencing your condition and how severe your case is. Care may last anywhere from a few months to several years.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Once we are sure that our patients body has healed fully it is important that they return to the clinic for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid future problems or discomfort. For most patients this phase typically just requires a visit 1-4 times a month. Depending upon your lifestyle and overall health goals.
After your body has become fully healed and you feel that you are at 100 percent there will be a third phase of chiropractic care in which you will develop routines to keep your body in optimal condition and lessen the likelyhood of pain. In order to ensure that our patients can continue to enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care we work closely to develop unique plans that suite their individual needs. The health of your musculoskeletal system must be maintained and that is why we are here. Just as you would maintain a healthy diet and proper exercise you should also maintain other aspects of your body.
Everyone would like to avoid pain and discomfort and when you bring chiropractic care into your life this is exactly what you are doing. Your joints will last longer and most importantly you will be able to continue doing activites you love every day!
